[List] Chinese Dramas 2016

It is the end of 2015 and the beginning of another great year in Dramaland. Here is a good list of all Chinese Dramas that have scheduled to be aired in 2016 (or have that year glued to the project name). With my estimation, I would say about half of them will actually have an air date. I am sure everyone has a specific drama they want to air since EVERY actor has a lot of projects coming up. Seriously. Let the odd be ever in your favor 😉

Since there is no schedule specific order, I tried to put them alphabetical. Use ctl+F if you want to find your drama 😉 If there is already a confirmed air date, it is added to the drama under the poster. Also note that I did not tag the actors for this post because there is just too many (all) of them.

• A Detective House Wife 煮夫神探
• Cast: Jia Nailiang, Li Xiaolu
• Air date: January 8th, 2016
• This drama will star the real life couple of Jia Nailiang and Li Xiaolu. May be worth a watch, although the stills are already out and I don’t feel interested…
• 
• Adventure for Love 寻找爱的冒险
• Cast: Jiang Jingfu, Chen Xiang
• Air date:  January 20nd, 2016

• A Love for Seperation:

• Battle In Dawn 决战黎明
• Cast: Liu Shishi, Wang Qian Yuan
• Anything with Liu Shishi is worth at least a try. She looks so pretty in that period and I really really miss her on my screen.

• Beauty Private Kitchen 美人私房菜
• Cast: Ma Tianyu, Zheng Shuang
• Wow, I think it was filmed like in 2014? Both actors were shipped during their OTP moments on Ancient Swords, but they both moved to other projects that it feels like forever since they filmed it. Considering the cast, this drama is quiet low key on the promotion level. Sadly doesn’t look like a drama that can gather much attention.

• Braveness of the Ming
• Cast: Zhang Han, Park Min Young
• Having Korean actress Park Min Young as the female lead is the main selling point of this drama. Even if Zhang Han is popular, he already did so many similar roles (e.g. The Four 2015). For me, these dramas depend so much more on the storyline than on the cast.

• Chinese Paladin 5 仙剑5 云之凡
• Cast: Guli Nazha, Elvis Han, Zheng Yuanchang, Xiao Caiqi
• Probably not going to be as fun as its two prequels, but it will definitely gather the attention of xianxia drama fans. I bet I will be one of the watcher… sigh.
  
• Chronicles of Life 寂寞空庭春欲晚
• Cast: Zheng Shuang, Hawick Lau
• Air date: February 1st, 2016
• Take 2. Since the OTP didn’t really work during their first collaboration last summer, they are retrying in a whole different dynasty. The stills quality are so pretty. Even if I am not a fan of neither actors, I think it can be fun to check it out.

• The Classic of Mountains and Seas
• Cast: Zhang Han, Guli Nazha, Kenny Kwan, Wu Lei
• The drama has real life OTP as well as two of my cutie pies (Kenny Kwan and Wu Lei). The quality seems good too, so it is a must watch for me.

• Clouds / Love in the Clouds
• Cast: Chen Xiao, Yuan Shanshan, Zhang Zhehan
• Haha. My 2016 resolution: stay away from any Yumama production. Sorry, Chen Xiao. I still love you though ❤

• Coco Town Love 茧镇奇缘
• Cast: Song Qian, Jiang Jingfu, Yang Yang
• I don’t know, Yang Yang had such a cute face when this was filmed. As all three leads are receiving lots of love right now, they will probably release it soon, right? Although, that storyline looks so bad…

• Edge to Happiness 缘来幸福
• Cast: Ma Tianyu, William Chan, Deng Jiajia
• For people who are fans of Ancient Swords, it may be worth a watch.

• Epiphyllum Dream 昙花梦
• Cast: Ady An, Qiao Zhenyu
• Love the cast, but unsure about the story so far.

• (Tribes) Empires
• Cast:

• Gorgeous White-Collar Workers 华丽上班族
• Cast: Zhang Han, Qiu Cixuan, Zhu Xiaotian
• Air date: January 2016

• Xiaoli Feidao / The Legend of Flying Daggers
• Cast: Hawick Lau, Yang Rong, Gui Gui
• YES! Because the stills look good and the palace is pretty and Yang Rong is awesome. I want to watch it, but I am really not that familiar with the Flying Daggers series.

• Go Goal Fighting! 旋风十一人
• Cast: Hu Ge, Maggie Jiang
• Don’t know. I am down most of the time when it comes to sport dramas, but this one has exes as OTP. It could be awkward to watch.
  
• God of War Zhao Yun / Chinese Hero / God of War Zhao Zilong 武神赵子龙
• Cast: Lin Gengxin, YoonA, Guli Nazha, Godfrey Gao
• Scheduled for January 21st, 2016 on Hunan TV Channel
• The drama was due for last summer, so yes, do release it soon (before Sones around the world get mad at you!) Zhao Yun is like my favorite historical character in The Three Kingdoms, so I do want to see this drama very much. I don’t think the quality is that great, the costumes even look silly and cheap at some level. But, I will still watch it!

• Eastern Palace
• Cast: Fan Bingbing, Chen Kun
• YES!!!!!!! I recently read the spoiler summary of the story on Xia0er’s tumblr and the story is so goood and so sad! I don’t see Fan Bingbing as the female lead because she is supposed to be a teenager. Plus, Fan Bingbing always changes the character description to make herself look good (keuf keuf Empress of China). Since the story gives me a Hua Xun Yin vibe, if it has to be an older version of the female lead, I would rather cast Jiang Xin.

• Hello Mr.Right 老师晚上好
• Cast:
• Air date: January 26th, 2016

• Hot Girl 麻辣变形计
• Cast: Ma Ke, Dili Reba
• Yop! Will watch it for the gorgeous OTP. They look too pretty and too skinny to be bodyguards, but it seems like a light hearted drama with an interesting story. ^^

• Ice Fantasy 幻城
• Cast: Feng Shaofeng, Victoria Song, Ma Tianyu, Zhang Meng
• Guo Jingming’s first venture in dramaland. Will he become another Yumama or a Shandong TV producer? Hummm, only time will tell. I am quiet curious about this production since it is full of my fave actors/actresses. The costume seems very fairy like and I don’t mind the use of CGI to reproduce the setting. Just don’t overuse it please.

• Imperial Doctress 女医明妃传
• Cast: Liu Shishi, Wallace Huo, Huang Xuan
• Hehe, this drama will be airing on February 15th, 2016!
• Haha, a Wallace Huo and Liu Shishi reunion. What can I ask for more? Personally, I am not really into medicine, so I will probably skip watch for the OTP moments.

• Just One Smile Is Very Alluring 微微一笑很倾城
• Cast: Zheng Shuang, Yang Yang
• Air date: rumored to air on January 31th.
• Definitely worth watching because you can be sure any Gu Man story will be sweet and healing for the soul.

• Lady in a Cubicle 格子间的女人
• Cast: Tang Yan, Wu Zhuoxi, Mo Xiaoqi, Li Chengxuan
• It actually already aired at the end of 2014, but not on the small screen called a TV. I gave it a shot. I am still not able to finish a Tang Yan drama. When will my pickyness stop?? I really wanted to watch it 😦

• Legend of Fox 青丘狐传说
• Cast: Guli Nazha, Jiang Jinfu, Xiao Xaiqi, Chen Yao, Zhang Ruoyun, Yao Yichen, Wang Kai, Fu Xinbo, Tang Yixin, Zhang Xueying, Jiang Kaitong, Di Tianlin
• Air date: February 15th, 2016
• Big cast . I don’t know, it looks fun, but there is something that doesn’t appeal me that much. Fox spirit stories are good normally for a few episodes, but dragging it to a whole drama? That is too much for me. Maybe I will do like with Hua Xu Yin and pick watch a few stories.

• Legend of Zu
• TV Air date: January 16th, 2016
• Yes! I am definitely going to watch it since I was waiting for its tv release to start it ^^ Based on the stills, I think the CGI effect is bad, but at least the cast is good.

• Les Interpretes 亲爱的翻译官
• Cast: Yang Mi, Huang Xuan
• Very curious to see how this big production will land. They filmed in Paris and Europe in general. Huang Xuan looks really good in modern costumes. Worth trying.

• Love & Life & Lie 遇见爱情的利先生
• Cast: Chen Xiao, Zhou Dongyu
• Yes! Yumama is far away from this drama (I hope). It is good Chen Xiao, I am ready to watch your beautiful face again!!

• Love without a Trace 爱无痕
• Cast: Tong Liya, Tong Dawei
• Classic palace drama. If the drama gets high ratings, I may check it out ^^

• Liu Shan Men 六扇门
• Cast: Dili Reba, Lin Feng, Fang Zhongxin, Ying Haoming, Guo Ruixi
• Rumored for March 2016

• Lucky Treasure 吉祥天宝
• Cast: Kim Kibum, Zhao Liying, Zhu Zixiao
• Will probably skip through for Zhao Liying’s moments with Zhu Zixiao.

• Ode To Joy 欢乐颂
• Cast: Liu Tao, Jiang Xing, Yang Zi, Wang Kai
• What can go wrong with this production, right? MUST WATCH!

• Princess Jieyou
• Cast: Yuan Hong, Zhang Xinyi
• Yuan Hong as the male lead with his current girlfriend. Even if it is bad, I will still give it a try.

• Princess of Lan Ling Wang 兰陵王妃
• Cast: Zhang Hanyu (Baby), Peng Guanying, Chen Yi, Zhang Ziwen
• As mentionned before, I am not a fan of the female lead (I don’t know why, but she didn’t give me a good impression on the variety show Idol Up). I am still ready for the prettiness of this drama, so I will still watch it for sure. Peng Guanying looks especially good.

• Princess Weiyoung 锦绣未央
• Cast: Tang Yan, Vanness Wu
• I am counting on this drama to make myself like her more. Don’t disappoint me again, please!

• Resume 猎场
• Cast: Hu Ge, Zhang Jiayi, Sun Honglei, Chen Long
• YES!! Just like Ode to Joy, I bet nothing can go wrong with this drama. Nothing!

• Love Happiness 因为爱情有幸福
• Cast: William Chan, Tang Yixing
• Mehh

• Rookie Agent Rouge 胭脂
• Cast: Zhao Liying, Lu Yi
• My baby!! Yes, I will watch it for sure for sure. This actually looks so exciting.

• Song of Phoenix 《思美人》Si Mei Ren
• Cast: Ma Ke, Qiao Zhenyu, Zhang Xinyu (Viann), Yi Yang Qian Xi, Du Chun
• It is a high quality drama, but so far, so little stills were released to evaluate the chemistry between the leads. Everyone looks pretty so far and if it wasn’t for Viann Zhang’s previous scandalous life, I would definitely be more excited for this project! 😦 At least it is a Ma Ke project where he will be back on ancient beautiful dresses. Oh Sha Jiejie…

• Sparrow 麻雀
• Cast: Li Yifeng, Zhou Dongyu, Zhang Luyi, Li Xiaoran, Yin Zheng, Zhang Ruoyun, Han Qingzi
• There is a big craze over this drama on weibo, but I don’t know why? Maybe because it stars Li Yifeng and is based on a novel. Anyway, I have a high chance of skipping it.

• The Gods
• Cast: Luo Jing, Wang Likun
• This drama is so weird. Wang Likun is playing Daji AND the sister of Yang Jian. It just doesn’t make sense because Daji is that evil fox spirit from Feng Shen Yan Yi, while as the sister of Yang Jian is San Shen Mu, the innocent and kind hearted goddess who protects the lotus lantern. I don’t know they are messing up with Chinese mythology, but me not approve of those changes. I am a HUGE fan of Er Lang Shen/Yang Jian, so I will probably watch it. Please don’t create some crazy brother-sister loveline. I won’t be able to take it seriously.

• The Three Heroes and Five Gallants 五鼠闹东京
• Cast: Zheng Shuang, Chen Xiao, Yan Kuan
• Air date: February 17th, 2016.
• The costume quality looks so b.a.d.

• Three Lives Three World Ten Miles of Blossom Flowers (movie OR drama) 三生三世十里桃花
• Cast: Liu Yifei, Yang Yang OR Yang Mi, Mark Zhao
• Never read the original novel, but apparently the author plagiarized from someone else. I could still watch it for the pretty, but it takes away from the fun of watching it.

• To Be a Better Man
• Cast: Sun Honglei, Jia Shuying, Lay (EXO)
• It is more aiming for a mature audience, and I am too immature for that! ;P

• Whirlwind Girl 2 旋风少女2
• Cast: TBA
• I followed Whirlwind Girl 1, but I am not sure I am ready for round 2. That ending for season 1 really left me underwhelmed.

• Xiao Shi Yi Lang 新蕭十一郎
• Cast: Yan Yikuan, Gan Ting Ting, Zhu Yi Long, Li Yixiao, Zhang Yun
• Scheduled for February 9th, 2016 on both Beijing and Guandong TV channels.

• Yes, I do 咱们相爱吧
• Ming Dao, Zhang Jingchu, Yuan Hong, Zhang Xinyi, Qin Lan
• Ming Dao always look good in whatever he does, but he is not very lucky when it comes to choosing Chinese projects. Learn from Chen Qiao En! The drama also have Yuan Hong. With two bias, I have to at least follow this production.

• Xiu Li Jiang Shan aka Chang Ge Xin
• Cast: Ruby Lin, Yuan Hong
• YES!! As mentionned previously, please set this drama free! It is time for it to see the light of the scree and get aired!

• Zhu Xian 诛仙
• Cast: Li Yifeng, TFBoys (rumored Angelababy), Yang Zi
• There are so many names attached to this project so I feel like it is a big messy… I will wait for the annoucement of the female lead to decide on my expectation value of it!
